┌───────────────────────────┐
│ PowerVAC Revision History │
└───────────────────────────┘
v1.61 │ A slight adjustment to the user output. v1.60 was
March 22, 1991 │ showing that the version was v1.50. Corrected.
│ Improved phone number readability on the message
│ to the sysop regarding user verification result.
│ Changed subject header for quick viewing of
│ actual "success" or "failure" results when
│ scanning the subjects in GT, MMR, BMM or the like.
v1.60 │ New AUTOMATIC SYSOP NOTIFICATION! PowerVAC will
March 3, 1991 │ send a message to the sysop in the sysop message
│ directory as defined in the ALT-I setup screen.
│ The message contains valuable information that is
│ outlined in POWERVAC.DOC. Future versions could
│ show actual calling results from the PCBVerify log
│ file. Should you have any suggestions for what to
│ add to or change in the message, please let me
│ know!
│ Several small fixes and a new title screen.
v1.50 | The next time you see Chet Wilkinson, praise him
January 25, 1991 | as one of the great bug reporters of our time.
| The Chets of the computing world are few and far
| between for not many can both find a bug and
| convey the relationship between the cause and effect
| of the bug's presence to the author. Way-2-go, Chet!
| New TRC logo for 1991! Condensed and 'spiffied
| up' the output to the user.
| Oh, yes, Chet's bug fix. PowerVAC now updates
| the time left information in GTUSER.BBS.
| Previously, users could get verified but externals
| to GT would not know of their new time allotment.
| Now they should!
v1.45 | On the way OUT, PowerVAC now deletes the PCBV.SYS file
January 3, 1991 | so that if PowerVAC aborts the next time IN,
| PCBVerify will not run with the previous caller's
| name and password. (Jerry Hook)
| PowerVAC now finds the correct location of the
| GT.LOG file from GT.CNF. Previously, it was
| assumed that your GT.LOG was always in the GTPATH
| directory. If you were getting runtime error 002
| at 0000:1AA0 with v1.41, this was the problem
| (that is now corrected). (Jerry Hook, Maura
| Clover, and others)
| PowerVAC will no longer update files when entering
| in callback mode, when exiting from callback mode,
| or when exiting from a failed verification. Logically,
| no updating is need if the user's time limits or
| access would not change (as *is* the case if in
| callback mode or exiting from a failed
| verification.)
|
| The above change fixes a bug that would allow
| users to enter the door and abort callback, only
| to return to the BBS with their full time limit
| back in place as if they had never logged on. By
| eliminating unnecessary file updates, this bug has
| been corrected. (Billy Huddleston)
v1.41 | PowerVAC no longer deletes the index file with
December 12, 1990 | each complete cycle of the code ('in' and 'out');
| thereby facilitating faster searching for users
| using the door multiple times in one call.
| PowerVAC now completely updates the GTUSER.BBS
| file with both the new access level and the new
| authorizations.
| Chet Wilkinson found that some users were not
| given access to areas they should have with their
| newly PowerVAC-upgraded access. This occurred
| when a sysop had configured GT to limit access to
| doors (or whatever) by omitting the authorization
| code in GTPASSWD.BBS rather than restricting it in a
| file like GTDDIR.BBS (in the case of doors).
| Nevertheless, PowerVAC now fully updates both the
| authorizations and the user level.
| Optimized code in time upgrade areas.
| Fixed logic bug in the time upgrade function that
| caused the time limit to be displayed incorrectly
| when an event was pending.
v1.40 | PowerVAC updates the GTUSER.BBS file with the new
December 7, 1990 | access level if the user had his access adjusted
| upon verification. (Requested by Chet Wilkinson)
v1.32 | Unfortunately, further testing of v1.31 showed
December 2, 1990 | that an array of color was not being defined
| before the output went to the communications port.
| Corrupted characters caused by this undefined array
| could appear and make the output unintelligible.
| This has been fixed.
| PVAC.EXE may now be compressed with PKLITE,
| LZEXE or a comparable executable compression
| program. PowerVAC now writes a file in your GT
| directory named PVAC.CNF. You *will* need to run
| PVAC REGISTER when installing v1.32, but will not
| have to redo everything as you have in the past
| when upgrading to a new version.
v1.31 | Corrects problem with baud rates over 19200.
December 1, 1990 | PVAC corrupted the baud rate when out of integer
| range (like 38400). Changed to unsigned integer
| format.
| Jim Kreyling deserves thanks for not only bringing
| this bug to my attention, but also for bugging me
| to put out a bug fix. Thanks for being a good
| sport, Jim.
| Users now see the output before PowerVAC goes
| searching for the user in the database. This way,
| they know *something* is happening if your system
| happens to be bogged down with a network load, etc.
| Code remains compatible with the current beta test
| of GT 16. Please let me know if it suddenly
| ceases to operate correctly.
v1.30 | Bug fixed regarding conversion of time limit when
October 11, 1990 | coming back from an unsuccessful verification.
| Increased program security.
| PowerVAC now appends its activities to GT.LOG
| Responses include:
| ; Entered PCBVerify (Verification mode)
| ; SUCCESSFUL Verification
| ; Upgraded from level 'U' to 'S'
| ; Verification FAILED
| ... and others
| Purification option added to reconcile your
| PCBVVER file (validated numbers trashcan for
| PCBVerify) with your user database. The command
| line format is PVAC PURIFY <path_to_PCBV_files>.
| This helps to keep users who get deleted from
| being rejected by PCBVerify if they log in a few
| months later.
|
| This program essentially performs the same
| function as PURGE.EXE (which comes with PCBVerify)
| does with PCBoard. DO NOT USE PURGE.EXE, but use
| the PURIFY option of PowerVAC since you are running
| a GT BBS.
v1.20 | Fixed a problem that allowed users who had their
September 23, 1990 | time adjusted upward due to an access upgrade
| when an event was pending to continue through
| the event. Changed the documentation to include
| an example and to emphasize the need to overlay
| the door. This was a major omission in the
| original document.
v1.11 | Fixed an error in upgrading users. Control file
September 5, 1990 | was not open for access during upgrade.
v1.10 | Original release
September 4, 1990 |
